Spot loves squirrel...

...with barbecue sauce and kibble.

I never saw this happen before at the Bronx Zoo until yesterday. One of the African wild dogs was eating a squirrel! I didn't see the dog kill the unlucky squirrel, but I did see it eating the rodent. I first noticed it when one of the visitors was saying that one of the African wild dogs was killing and eating a squirrel. That was when I saw this guy eating the squirrel and tearing it apart, like a chew toy. Next thing you know, another dog comes in and both start to fight over the mangled prize and tearing it between them. I know wild dogs are predators, but I was actually surprised to see it. I do know that they, along with the other animals in the zoo, get feed by the keeper. But, according to one of the keepers, they will also consider on trying squirrel as a side dish or a snack. Still I thought it was surprising and amazing to see these dogs in action. I guess they were right, "You can take the animal out of the wild, but you can't take the wild out of the animal." XD
